Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@wildlandproject.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.

The Wildland Project is a nonprofit organization, actively pursuing 501(c)3 status, that provides support and assistance Wildland Firefighters and their families. We are focused on mental health and wellness services to support  Wildland Firefighters using equines as the first step to create emotional safety and then immediately surround the individual with professional services, alternative wellness, and healing techniques.

There are many ways to get involved with The Wildland Project, such as volunteering, making a donation, partnering with us, or attending one of our events. Please contact us for more information.

The Wildland Project offers a variety of mental health and wellness services.  The Wildland Project is in its early startup phase, and while our mission is fully in motion, our services are still in development. We are currently working to build the foundation—programs, partnerships, and funding—needed to offer meaningful support to the wildland fire community.

Some programs and outreach efforts are available during this time (please refer to our PROGRAMS page for more information) , and we’re always happy to connect, listen, and guide individuals toward existing support where possible. As we grow, we’ll continue to expand our offerings and share updates.

We appreciate your patience and support as we bring our vision to life.

Yes.  We do ask that you call/email first to get a set time to come by.  We care deeply about the confidentiality and privacy of the firefighters onsite, with that understood we welcome interested individuals to have a in-depth look at what we do here.   If you have already been enrolled in one of our programs in the past and would like to stop by, just give us a call/email and we will get back to you ASAP!

First and foremost, TWP believes in being intentional and impactful within the community—both in small moments and on a larger scale. We take pride in how The Wildland Project contributes as a thoughtful and effective steward. Nevada, where we’re based, is home to the largest population of wild mustangs in the country. Regardless of differing views on regulatory efforts, the fact remains: many of these mustangs are in need of rehabilitation and rehoming. We're proud to partner with a local nonprofit that specializes in exactly that. Secondarily, the parallels between Wildland Firefighters and wild mustangs run deep—each shaped by adversity, strengthened by fortitude, and uniquely positioned to help the other heal. Looking ahead, TWP is developing programs and spaces that reflect the spirit of both—ensuring our growth stays rooted in the grit, toughness, and authenticity that define them.

The Wildland Project is currently awaiting IRS EIN assignment and tax-exempt status. Please contact us for information on how you can support our mission while we complete these steps. Thank you for your understanding.
